We are thrilled that MJ Mechanical Rokeby is certified as a Type 1 and Type 2 inspection station, making us one of only 18 authorized Type 2 stations in South Tasmania.

Approved Inspection Stations

This dual certification enables us to conduct a broad spectrum of vehicle inspections, including:

✅ Type 1 Inspections – General vehicle safety and compliance checks

✅ Type 2 Inspections – Mandatory inspections for small public vehicles with 9 seats or fewer, such as:

• Rental vehicles

• Ride-source vehicles

• Driving instruction vehicles

• Taxis

These inspections are crucial to ensure vehicles meet the highest safety and regulatory standards before they are on the road.

Inspection Frequency Guidelines:

	Small Passenger Vehicle (other than a taxi) 9 or fewer seats
Vehicle age	Frequency
Less than 3 years old	Initial inspection (other than vehicles used as hire and drive, or Restricted Hire Vehicle (RHV) as these do not require an initial SPV inspection until they are more than 3 years old)
More than 3 years old	12 month intervals
More than 15 years old	6 month intervals
